Do you think we will ever figure this out?  I wanted to see who would get this and know how to comment back.  Please take the time and click below this blog post on the "0 comments" and let me know you got this far.  I think Whitney is going to change the name of our overall Blog to NKESC Communication Connections so it might be more obvious what is coming your way when you get an e-mail.  Wow, I am OLD....not sure my brain is elastic enough to stretch this far.   Well, we are giving it our best shot.  Shelby

More Tips and Tricks

Hello all!  My mom asked if I would share a couple more things about the blog so here they are:

Usernames and Passwords

You will get automatic updates about new blog posts added by others.  They will appear in your email inbox.  It will take you to the following website:  http://nkescslp.blogspot.com/.  This is where you will go if you are just wanting to look at the blog and/or read other people's posts and comments.  If you are wanting to add your own blog post, then you will need to sign into the blog.  These are the steps you will take to do that:

• Go to blogger.com.
• Sign-in using the username:  nkescslp and the password:  speechlanguage
• You will then want to click on 'Communication Connections'
• Then you will click on 'New Post' on the left.

You will then be ready to post a blog post.  That's our next tip!

Posting a Blog Post

Once you have clicked on 'New Post,' you will be ready to type your post.  Like Microsoft Word, you can change your font, bold, italicize, underline, etc.  You can also add pictures, links, videos, etc.

At the end of your post, you will probably want to add your name so everyone knows who added the post.  You will also want to add some 'Labels' so people will be able to know the categories your post is about.  You can find the 'Labels' on the right-hand sign by clicking on the 'tag.'  Then you can click on labels that are already made or you can type in new labels that you want to add.  Then click 'Done.'

When you are done with your blog post, you can then add your post by pushing the orange 'Publish' button at the top of the page.

Comments

When you would like to comment on a blog post, there are a couple of different ways to go about this.  You can either:

• Click on '0 Comments' at the bottom of the post and a text box will appear for you to type in.
• If there is already another comment, then a text box will already be there for you to type your comment in.

Remember that you will also want to probably put your name in the text box so that people know who has posted the comment.

Welcome to your new blog!

Hello!  My name is Whitney Dennis and I am Shelby's daughter.  I am currently wrapping up my CFY in the Hays school district and have loved this profession already!  My mom asked me for some help with putting together and designing a blog for the SLPs in your service center.  This is the beginning of your new blog!  This process can be intimidating at first because it is completely new and foreign to you, but you catch on quickly I promise.

Blogs can be used for many, many purposes and your blog will be no different.  I have set up several different things that you can use to help facilitate communication between each other, look at other speech blogs, and so forth.  So here is a little bit about 'Communication Connections.'

Searching the Blog
One of the first things that you'll be able to do is search the blog.  If you are looking for something specific, but don't want to go through every post, then you can type it into the search box and every post with that topic will pop up.  It should help you cut down time scouring through this blog for something specific.  In order for this to work, you will also want to use the 'Labels' function.  I have created some for you already, but will discuss that more later.

Blog Archive List
The next item on the left-hand-side of the blog is your 'Blog Archive' list.  This will list the blogs you post every month and year.  This is another great way to find posts quickly.

Labels
Your 'Labels' is the next item.  These are categories on your blog.  After you post a blog post, you can categorize the post.  So if your post was about articulation and grammar, then you would want to categorize under those categories.  Labels will also make it easier to find information quickly about a certain topic you are looking for or are curious about.

Blog List
You will then notice a header called 'Our Blog List.'  This list houses a number of different speech-language pathology blogs that you can click on from your very own blog.  I have used several of these blogs to come up with new and fun therapy ideas for my students.  There are tons of blogs out there and I would be happy to add anymore that people enjoy reading and looking at!

Following by Email

Then there is a place to 'Follow By Email.'  This is how you all got the notification of this blog post.  Every time someone posts a blog post on here, you will get an email notification letting you know.  That way you'll never miss a new post from one of your fellow SLPs.  

Comments
At the end of every blog post, you will also have the option to comment on that specific post.  This will be a great way to respond back to someone's post about a new therapy idea, inservice meetings, etc.  However, please remember that this blog is public and can be viewed by anyone on the internet.  Please remember to keep messages, comments, and posts confidential.
